Function: Back Office Engineer

Workplace: Brussels, Belgium

Introduction:
The Digital Identity and Signature Services (DISS) aims at providing IT identity to Commission users but also to partners users (i.e. users from other institutions, from agencies, JTI, etc.) and external users (i.e. any citizen of the world). In the context of the Commission, the identity will accompany the users throughout their relationship with the Commission.  

The offered services consist of following subservices:  

•    The Corporate User provisioning service: retrieves data from HR authoritative sources and generates, based on them, identities that are stored and used in and by IT systems.  
•    The CED (Commission Enterprise Directory) is a LDAP based Directory offering a central authentication service, access control and directory facilities.  
•    EU Login is a central service offering different level of authentication with some access control facilities.  
•    Assistance to DG's: In the context of re-organisations (e.g. renaming of DG, creation/deletion of entities within DG, creation of a new entity (e.g. Agency)), DSSI is providing assistance and support to the concerned entities.
•    Active Directory Provisioning: provisioning of the Commission Active Directory objects (i.e. user accounts and mailboxes) and central management of e-mail distribution list (RBDL's1) and Adress Book.

Main tasks:
•    Operational tasks on Oracle Directory server 11.1.1.7.0 and OpenLDAP 
      o    Stop / Start LDAP server 
      o    Replication tasks (stop, start, resync, ssl) 
      o    Perform LDAP queries
      o    Indexing jobs 
      o    Troubleshooting via access, audit, error logs
      o    Backup of running instance, restore instance from backup 
      o    Schema updates 
      o    ACI update
      o    Install, configure, update, patch servers
      o    Monitor the LDAP servers via in-house scripts (bash, ksh, perl, plSql)
      o    Troubleshooting via LDAP logs 
      o    Proactive monitoring of LDAP servers 
      o    Patch the server
      o    Abilities to monitor the LDAP servers via homemade scripts 
•    Operating systems maintenance and troubleshooting – Linux RedHat 8 
•    Middleware analysis and troubleshooting - Oracle Weblogic server, Tomcat server
•    Working with integration tools - Git, Bamboo, Nexus
•    Administrative tasks: 
     o    Create incidents
     o    Manage incidents/request for service/request for info from the outside world 
     o    Create and lead change management (create tickets, procedure, documentation) 
     o    Create/update documentation and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

Required skills:
•    At least 6 years of experience in UNIX systems  
•    At least 6 years of Oracle SQL/Pl SQL 
•    Analytical and systematic approach to problem solving 
•    Good spoken and written knowledge of English and French 
•    Punctual, meticulous, and reliable 
•    ITIL V3 foundation certification  

Preferred skills:
•    Experience with European Commission 
•    Experience with CHANGE and RELEASE Management 
•    Experience with Prince2 / PM² methodologies 
•    Experience with ticketing system 
•    Experience with SharePoint as user
