We are seeking a Operations Engineer to join our team in Brussels.
Responsibilities:
• Participation in the projects with the other teams (developers, software deployment team, network, enterprise architecture team, IT security team);
• Design of new applications based on Linux servers and/or Containers (devops);
• Study of solutions on the market to continuously improve the compute and storage infrastructure;
• Systems operation activities, including setup, installation, tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring and maintenance (including management of firmware patches) of the Linux servers (circa 600):
• Incident and Problem Management activities (e.g., fault analysis, diagnosis and resolution).
• Elaboration of operational guidelines and procedures for the management of the Linux servers and related environment;
• Change and Configuration management activities (e.g., assessment, scheduling, implementation, review);
• Specification of solutions for operations: Specification of teams (number of persons, competencies), specification of management systems (technology, architecture), specification of any other tools needed in operations such as: Configuration Management Database, Knowledge System, etc.
• Design of management systems and other tools: design of architecture, technical evaluation of alternatives offered on the market, conduct of proof of concept, testing in pre-production environment;
• Implementation of new solutions for operations: migration of new systems in production environment, definition of procedures, training of operators for new procedures, development of tools (customisation or configuration of commercial tools, development of small tools such as websites, databases, etc.);
• Evaluation of quality and efficiency of operations by definition and implementation of metrics; periodical follow-up of metrics; proposal of measures to improve quality and/or efficiency of operations.
Strategic studies:
• Execution of architecture and technology studies, taking into account all aspects related to architecture and technology decisions, such as: user requirements, evolution of technology and standards, and aspects related to ergonomics, ecological footprint, availability, scalability, maintainability, evolution, installation, migration, operations, finance
• Definition, preparation and execution of tests or proofs of concept
